FAMADESA STRENGTHENS ITS ASIAN MARKET IN TAIWAN

  • The Food Taipei (Taiwan) fair begins today, a new international stage of projection for the Malaga company.
  • The Campanillas-based company is consolidating the presentation of its improvements in R&D&I at one of the most important agri-food fairs in Asia.

MÁLAGA – 26/06/24 – The Famadesa Export team, led by its deputy director, Guillermo Beltrán, has been in Taiwan for a few days to attend the 34th edition of the Food Taipei food fair, which ends next Saturday. This Asian country is one of the non-EU destinations of Spanish interest, in terms of meat and product sales volume.

Famadesa repeats once again this year as a company associated with the Interprofessional Organisation for White-Capped Pigs (Interporc), which has planned a full programme of commercial activities, including professional meetings and tastings of ham and processed meat products.

According to Beltrán, “Taiwan is a growing market which, although it has a strong exporting character, is also notable for its pork imports, whose purchases are growing every year. We want to present our new plant at Food Taipei with all the advances and improvements in innovation and development that it brings with it in favour of a more sustainable and efficient production“, said the deputy director.

Famadesa is located at stand S-1204a, within the Interporc enclosure. Its export sales figure exceeds €137M (10.56% more than in 2022), 31% of which corresponds to transactions carried out in the Asian market.

Food Taipei is held simultaneously with the Foodtech & Bio/Pharmatech Taiwan, Taipei Pack and Taiwan Horeca fairs, which together make up the Taipei International Food Show, which ensures a high influx of professionals from the agri-food sector, both from Taiwan and from other countries and regions, especially from Asia. It is therefore an opportunity for Famadesa to strengthen its export position in the Asian market as part of its internationalisation strategy.

In 2023, Spain was Taiwan’s second largest pork supplier, behind Canada, and ahead of the USA, Denmark, the Netherlands and France. In that year, Spain exported nearly 30,000 tonnes of pork to Taiwan, worth 108.3 million euros, representing 24.5% by volume of all Taiwanese imports.
