30 May FAMADESA STRENGTHENS ITS COMMITMENT TO INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT IN SHANGHAI
- The company is currently participating in the SIAL SHANGHAI trade fair, presenting its advances and improvements in I+D+i, with the imminent start-up of its new plant.

MÁLAGA – 30/05/24 – Famadesa is focusing these days on boosting its exports at the International Food Industry Trade Fair (SIAL) in Shanghai (China). This is the largest food and beverage innovation event in Asia, which expects to bring together more than 4,800 exhibitors and almost 200,000 professionals from the sector.
Its presence once again this year, as a member of the Interprofessional White-Capped Pig Organisation (Interporc), is an opportunity to strengthen its role in the Asian market as part of its internationalisation strategy, together with 20 other leading Spanish pork companies. The Spanish pavilion of more than 800m, has been visited by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas. Famadesa is located in stand E7 F036, inside the exhibition centre.
This meeting point for professionals, producers and buyers from the global agri-food sector is undoubtedly the best showcase to present the new facilities that have been developed to meet the current export demand more successfully, with a substantial improvement in energy efficiency and technology.
From last Tuesday until today, Thursday, the Malaga company will be represented by part of the Export sales team, in a firm opportunity to reinforce Famadesa’s presence in the international market, which is becoming increasingly innovative.
This geographical area is one of the most important for Spanish meat exports, as well as being one of the main export countries for Famadesa. The export sales figure exceeds €137m (10.56% more than in 2022), 31% of which corresponds to transactions carried out in the Asian market, with China being the main export destination, along with the Philippines, Singapore, Korea and Vietnam, among others.
China, a strategic market
In 2023, Spain remained China’s leading supplier of pork products, accounting for 20.33% of purchases from this market, well ahead of other countries such as the USA, Brazil, the Netherlands and Canada. In total, Spain exported 560,488 tonnes of pork to China for a value of 1,223 million. This represents 20.3% of the total volume of Spanish pork exports and 13.7% of the value.
Adhesion to the campaign The Meaning of Meat
FAMADESA has also recently joined the ‘The Meaning of Meat’ campaign, a pioneering initiative of collaboration between the Spanish meat sector value chain and the retail sector to highlight and promote the pleasure of eating meat and the suitability of integrating this food into the framework of a complete and balanced diet.
Together with FAMADESA, more than a hundred companies and organisations from the entire value chain of the meat sector and distribution are already part of this initiative, which has been present in the media and social networks for a few weeks now.
